I greet you all in the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
It is not that I felt the need for another discussion in this Forum, I started this discussion to get help. I need help. I don't know if others out there are troubled like I am but I hope that this will help you too.

My testimony;I have not been the best of a Christian lately. If I do not go to Church this Sunday, it will be 5 Sundays since I last went to Church. I do not go to church during the week. And I do not attend cell or bible study. I have a very new bible and its a nice one,the most important verses are highlighted. But I do not read this bible. About 4 years back I made that descision;I accepted Christ and asked Him to come into my life...I have always been been a catholic but I doubt I knew what I was doing then.
That time,I was so prayerful, i would attend cell, bible study, I read my bible.I did. That bible is so old now and it has got all this markings and writings in it. I love that bible.
I was what I think a good Christian is and should be. And I was happy. But then somehow, 2 years later,I lost time. I don't know,I failed to get the time for God. I look at my bible and I will not read it,i'd rather lie down on my bed and reflect. Its terrible. But I love God, I love Jesus, and I pray a lot. I always remember to thank Him for the food, for my family, my friends, my health, and I remember to ask Him to give me that "Christian" spirit back. I always ask,"why is this happening?", "why don't I have the interest in it anymore?"
God has not left me.He is with me,I know. But why do I feel like I do not have the time to go "Praise and Worship" with the church?
I need help.
I tend to and internet addict so,I'll definately have to follow this bible study.

Let us please start this "Bible Study" with the memory verses and questions.

Maria,when we accept Jesus Christ as our saviour,it does not get easy.It gets much harder.When we leave the devils den,he vows to get us back no matter what.he never lets go without a fight.Knowing that you are out for a big fight is the first step.Ask The Lord to walk with you thru it.About church,I think it would be better to look for a church that has good people and people you can look upto.I consider the pastor in our church my spiritual Father and his wife my spiritual Mother.They are good people.And you know what happens when you hang around good folks.

You become better and good things happen to you.As for reading the Bible,tell satan that you plan on reading it whether he likes it or not.You can read a verse a day to start and try and see how that would help you.All you have to do is start all over again and if you feel like you do not want to read,rebuke the devil in Jesus name and read or pray.Singing gospel songs helps too.

My 2 cents.

i feel the same and a friend share with me this week that when we grieve Holy spirit he just stay a distance away.And we feel very empty.
How do we grieve him? when we dont appreciate him or walk with him.
How should we appreciate him? greet him and read a good verse for him eg greater is him who is in him and one in the world.
When you be-friend holy spirit you will have a revelation when you read the bible or it will flow.
have you read Good Morning Holy spirit by Benny Hinn?
Also we go through seasons: dry/wet, low/ high seasons.

....i am a good xtian. i bought a bible recently and i would like to participate in a bible study. Wagithuri , Ngunjiri and Wa B. when do we start?

GENESIS1:26,and God said let us make man in our image,after our likeness and let them have dominion overthe fish .........................

JOHN1:1 -10 In the biginning was the word and the word and was with God and the woord was God.........................

i was trying to compare the two books and to learn about JESUS,and who he is?
We see in GEN.1:26,GOD telling some one or some group about creating man,
John 1:1, talk about jesus and it try to show that Jesus was there before creation and he was the word,

Can we study about GOD and jesus ?

I feel you and think am also sailing in the same boat with you. One time i loved to read the bible but not anymore, one of the resolutions was to go back to being a strong Christian this year....something i have terribly failed but still trying to. I would recommend something though, the first thing that i have done towards my spiritual recorvery was to buy a cell phone that has a bible installed in it. Whenever i get bored, say like when am waiting to see someone in an office or bored in the bus taking a ride, i just scroll down and read the bible.....it has helped me(i found carrying around a bible a nuisance). hope it works for you and wish you luck.

Have you guys heard of BSF?

BSF is an acronym for Bible Study Fellowship. It's a Bible Study fellowship that is held in a grp deiscussion and lecture format. Currently it is held for men and ladies separately. These grps are formed of men and women of the same age grp where you are given verses in the Bible and some notes and thereafter questions that you discuss in your respective groups. Then after the discussion there's a lecture where the leader guides you on the book/verses you covered. I have found it to be very helpful in understanding the Bible and also sharing.
Currently we're on holiday and it resumes in September. Ladies sessions are held every Monday and men's fellowship on Tue. One needs to attend an introduction class before you are admitted to a grp. There's also a fellowship with your grp once every month where you gather and share experiences with other grp members. It's quite enlightening and inspirational too.

Wa Kihia,all in Gods time.But before we can start,we all need to ask ourselves a few questions and answer without opening the Bible and then start from there.

Questions like---How many books are in the bible?Better yet,how many in the old testament and how many in the new Testament?Can we say the books without opening the Bible?

This is a good beginning. I am ashamed of myself for having my priorities all wrong-Putting beer before my God albeit unknowingly. I confess the many iniquities i have committed, lived a horrid and sinful life whose product is eternal fire in hell. I welcome the whole idea of having a bible study where all of us can share the word of God and fill the void that satan had so readily and ably filled.

Ladies and gentlemen,it is time we all stood up and nurtured our spritual lives, much the same way we work so hard to nurture our professional, social, physical and other aspects of our lives.

Our lives ought to be driven by a purpose, a purposeful driven life. As the good book says, in the abscence of God, we all labour in vain. It may be difficult to begin with but i am determined to go all the way. I look at myself and i am horrified by what i see- a bloody sinner, a gossiper,a rumour monger,mchokozi na mkora kupindukia, mired in all manner of spiritual murk. This is an image i am working hard to change, an image i ought not to be proud of.

That journey begins here with a strong vision. A vision of a spriritually empowered and endowed person. It is a vision i will share with you, a vision we shall every often review as it progresses.

Ladies and gentlemen, i wish you God's grace, strength and blessing so that you may all feel fortified as you embark on that journey of change.

Wa Bakhita, i think in my CRE classes in Primary school, i was taught that there are 39 in the old testament and 27 in the new testament. However, i cannot tell which are in the old or new testament. i will take that as an assignment.

Ngunjiri....that BSF,I used to attend and I loved it,we were about to get certificates and ..honestly, i don't know why I lost it, but I left the group. Never even replied their calls/messages. I feel terrible about myself. But I am willing to start all over again.

Number of books...I do not know them,but I can list the new testament books in order. Of course with the help of a song I learned in primary. Assignment!

JESUS decrared that God is his father,
Genesis,2:18 says ,and the LORD God said, it is not good that the man should be alone, that tell us that man was aone first in the garden then GOD MADE HE WOMAN to help meet for him,
genesis 3:8 says and they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day,
it seems GOD USED TO VISIT MAN IN THE GARDEN BUT MAN WAS ONLY WITH HIS WIFE IN THE GARDEN.
there were animals too in the garden which God gave man dominion over them.

Wa Kihia,that is soo Good.You are right.
Maria, Maybe you should teach Wa Kihia that song.I also can sing the NT.The OT,I only know the Pentateuch.But Im still learning.
