New PM!

They are all talking about the same thing. It has come to whose language will be accepted. Examples. 1.They want a constitutional overhaul. 2.They want an executive PM and 2 deputies. ODM wants it NOW but PNU wants it as a comprehensive constitutional review package that Kenyans will be able to vote for/against. The only person who does not want the talks to succeed is Professor Anyang'-Nyong'.

And that's how it's done! Equality and Justice for ALL KENYANS! Congratulations to my fellow Kenyans on their 27th Dec elections. The deal reflects just that - we are divided and must therefore share power for the common good. Now, peace will prevail. Watch this space!

Beste Yours is not even worth responding to! Without spelling it out to you, welcome to the world of peace, justice and diplomacy. Whenever there's such opposing sides, either compromise for the sake of peace OR stick to your guns and plunge the country into chaos. I want to commend ODM for bending low. I want to especially thank MR KIBAKI for refusing to give in to the advise of his clique. Now that we have a shared goverment, we will have peace, we will address rigging and violence and put structures in place to prevent this from ever happening. I surely hope Kenyans who think like you can see the results of this deal. Without all the powers vested in one individual, it's hard for anyone to be fighting for presidency like that. Beste, tell me what will happen to Kalonzo now that his ODM-K brings nothing to the table!

hail the deal Why is the house so quiet? Is it not worth cerebrating the prospects of peace?

On the surface the deal look good and workable. But once again a lot depends on the implementation. I think this is a positive development worth celebrating.A few of us who seriously thought of relocating our investments to neighbouring countries can now stay on, albeit for the next 4 years. I however hope the new coalition will work harmoniosly unlike in those NARC days where wrangles was the middle name of the coalition. We pray the centre hold.

Celebrate what? the death of 1,500 people? distraction of property and peoples livelihood? Children been rendered orphans? The displacement of thousand of people? Our women and boys being raped and are now living with the fear of contracting HIV/AIDS?
How insensitive can people be about others people sufferings, no wonder all they think of is there investments.
Stop being too self centered and think of others. All in all i pray peace prevails and i pray God heals Kenya, we need a lot of healing so much damage has been done.

Johnkenya Nobody say that we forget the unneccesary loss of life. But ponder to think of the consequences if this uncertainty continued. talks were rife that politicians were raising money to arm private militia in case the talks fails. Today, we mourn 1,500, certainly more, innocent lives, not counting the wounded and the displaced. Think of multiplying that figure by tens or thousands and you will see the reason to celebate

Absolutely no reason to cerebrate (is the pun intentional?).If ever using ethnic cleansing as a tool of gaining power has ever been fantasized in other nations, it has been perfected in Kenya. Now a coalition of ethnic cleansers and the victims is a thing to celebrate? Pardon my nonchalance! It is an unholy marriage that I hope will not last long. I hope it is haunted by the dead souls of this ethnic cleansing! Kibaki has proven again to be a Gen.Kiguoya!

Honestly Sajini i don't see the reason to celebrate. Real men earn respect they do not demand for respect. A real man takes leadership in a self sacrificing way, he is mature in his emotions and deals with trials of life logically , with wisdom and not on the basis of his emotional instability.
My prayers go out to all those who lost their lives and whose lives have been drastically changed for the worse, all because of a few goons who felt that political power and posts were more important than them.

for now i will not complain because i have seen some steps being taken by kenya government by arresting the people behind the post election violence. this effort must be supported by all and must not leave any stone unturned concerning this issue. all politicians behind this violence must face the full wrath of law no matter their status quo in the society.
all those politicians who rigged election must be made accountable asp for justice to be served.

Kenyans want peace, yes, but they are wailing for justice to be served. I have yet to meet one person who has shown signs of joy from this so called "power sharing deal". What you have is a forced deal between people who not only hate each other but detest each other. Why don't we wait until they divide up the cabinet posts, peacefully and without greed and acts that are only self serving. If and when this happens then why don't we wait and see their level of maturity when it comes to working together for the benefit of all kenyans in a way that is not self serving! The road ahead is step, bumpy, dark and quite frankly scary. There was a picture in the Standard today showing Raila laughing so hard you could see his molars. With him in the picuture was non other than Mr. Kibor. This nut (Mr. Kibor) just got released from jail yesterday after posting bail in a Nakuru court. He is one of the top kalenjins who apparently masterminded the ethnic cleansing against the Kikuyus. The prosecutor thus far has charged him with inciting violence and has said they plan to upgrade that charge to murder(s). Upon his (Kibor)release he headed straight to the "Pentagon" to Meet with Raila. Do we really expect justice to be served? I went back to get the article/picture to post it here for you all to see and it has been removed from their site! The fact that 4 hours ago it was there and now it is gone speaks volumes. The picture told a story of great in-sensitivity. These are the people who will be the leaders of our government, it is sickening! Like one of our friends told us tonight, it will be up to the common person in Kenya and abroad to insist and pursue justice for the dead, orphaned, maimed, IDP, raped etc... He told us the plan is to give the new government 6 months to bring the guilty to justice, and it they don't it will be time for real mass action! You know what, I agree with him. If nothing is done to stop these criminals then every 5 years kenya will experience live acts fo halloween! Lets put the events into perspective: Neighbours killed their long time friends and neighbours because of their ethnicity to "apparently protest" the results of an election. Now that 2 figureheads have signed a deal, lets remember they have not shown signs of sensitivity or mercy to the survivors who are now IDPs. However, they are expecting these people to go back to their farms, presumbably now set up a tent to live in since their homes were burnt down, and live next to those who killed their kin-folk! Does this make any sense to anyone? What am I missing? The "leaders" made peace, the neighbours didn't! To add insult to injury see the artcle in the link below! Some fools who happen to be MPs from the Rift Valley want those being held in jail for the violence to be released so as to foster reconciliation in the communities! Can someone tell these fools to give us a break! If these CRIMINALS had faced justice in 1992 and 1997 maybe, just maybe it would not have happened again in 2007/2008! These so called leaders are strange bedfellers who cannot be trusted to do the right thing. To the writer above whose only worry appears to be the saftey of his/hers investments - all I can say is shame on you! Your view sounds myopic, please widen your lenses. Humanitarian acts maybe helpful in accomplishing this little task! Peace and justice to all kenyans! Link to standard article on Rift Valley Mps! http://www.eastandard.net/news/?id=1143982587&cid=159

Jiku, once again I can put as good as you can this cycle has to stop before we can talk peace. Those who kill and pillage must be prosecuted and security of citizens guaranteed by the government. If it can't let the citizens arm themselves in readiness for 07/08 ethnic cleansing for we know it will happen again and again according to the way things are happening now. One can't help but feel sorry for those (albeit isolated from reality as one can get) who are prescribing to us how we should feel for paper peace which we know it is as genuine as Lochness monster!
