The whole "swahili" idea is cool,i like it. Too bad not many Ugandans use swahili but the ones who do like "Bebe cool" have got very nice swahili songs. I think swahili should be taught in Ugandan schools.
Kenya; congratulations!!! you made it to the finale ( Project Fame) and you won.. and you hosted ..hhmm i guess you just had to win.
Maria I think you miss it here. Yes, the winner had to come from Kenya becaus ethe whole thing was about marketing teh Tusker brand. Now Ugandans are quite happy with the Niles, Bells and Club to bother about Tusker. In Kenya it is the opposite, Tusker is the most favorite beer brand, and it was the sponsor of the event.
If a non Kenyan would have won, then Tusker would have lost a chance to market their brand. I think that multi-sponsorship of such events will enhace the fairness of such competitions and not necessarily the location of the competition.

I never watched the show. I have something aginst reality shows because there is nothing real about them. And worse still, the finalist did not represent the mainstream East African Music. It is what some people somewhere are trying to prescribe to us so that they can make cool money. But I do envy Valerie's merc.

same here Sajini, am not for reality shows either cuz its not real.
i watched the finale and the guest artists were new to me.well,i am not an African music fan.I like East African music though, the swahili songs. they made their money alright. It was only fair cuz many people who watched the show were entertained.
Maria, I think I am geting old. I am still stuck with zilizopendwa, and this snew craze drives me crazy. I will give it to the young guys to define what represent who they are, but these reality shows do not represent who I am. If anything, they make me feel very very alienated.

hah Sajini, i got it...."Zilizopendwa ! Listen to the fabulous Tanzanian Jazz Bands of the '70s. " i got it from that site you were praising http://mwanasimba.online.fr/E_index.html man,it must be ancient cuz i have never heard of it. maybe you are getting old after all.
Well ABBA is now Oldskool, but do not think that just because I am an old-fashion guy I belong to the lyrical dinosaur era, I do like some few modern songs. I have something against rap and hip hop.
My prefernce is ageless tunes such as soul and reggae.
