I want to learn to love golf. Please help, kind golf lover.
I have questions:

1. How long does it take to play a round of golf?
2. How much does it cost to play a round of golf?
3.Which set of tees on the tee box should I use?
4.How high should I tee the ball on the tee box?
5.Where can I drive the golf cart on the course?
6.What is golf etiquette?
7.Do golf courses have dress codes?
8.What's the proper way to rake a sand bunker?
9.Are yardages listed to the front or center of the greens?

10.Explain outside in or maybe it's inside out?

11.What is the difference between a cadet style and regular style glove?

12.On TV I hear announcers refer to an "unforced error." What [then] is a forced error?

13.What is "resonable evidence"?

Thank you.

Maria, Big Grin Bakhita can tell you all about it.She plays good.I have her on video cam playing golf. She hits better than her dad. Big Grin I have watched her teaching him how to swing when he hits.Funny thing is,he taught her how to play. She plays better now. Big Grin I like that.

She loves it.Me,I just sit and watch.Maybe kina WaKihia na Wangu can help on this one.On second thought,Ngunjiri,Wagithuri and Paka Alley.Wakihia and Wangu will be hangovaad and I do not think they know how to cure a hangover yet. Big Grin

Maria,
I am a golf amature. I have very little experience and I am also learning. The info I give might not be entirely true.

quote:
1. How long does it take to play a round of golf?

Depends. In a group of 4. Playing 9 holes walking takes us around 2 hours. If we use cart, it is much faster. 18 holes would take much longer, again depending on whether you are walking or using a cart. Not forgeting the switness of players can be a factor
quote:
2. How much does it cost to play a round of golf?

This depends from golf course to golf course. In public courses, it ranges from around $8-15 weekdays. You pay more on weekends. In private course, you have to be a member.
quote:
3.Which set of tees on the tee box should I use?

Hard to answer. This by the way depends on individual styles at amaturelevel. I do not knwo what professional use.
[qoute]4.How high should I tee the ball on the tee box?[/quote]
No idea. But a high drive at the tee box will be waste your energy, A very low might cost you distance. I normally do something like 100 feet maximum height
quote:
5.Where can I drive the golf cart on the course?

There are designated cart paths on the course. You should not dtive cart on fairways.
quote:
6.What is golf etiquette?

Abide by the rules. They are so many. Play a fair game. If you are playing slowly, let the faster person pass, dont obstruct other, dont stand behind the players, dont play others balls etc etc
quote:
7.Do golf courses have dress codes?

Wear golf shoes, and golf shirts. For males always wear long pants (professionals)
quote:
8.What's the proper way to rake a sand bunker?

Dont know at all. I have never thought of it. I just rake.
quote:
9.Are yardages listed to the front or center of the greens?

Hard to answer this especially if the tee box keeps geting changed.

Thank you. That helps a lot.
I have a broblem, everytime I try to hit the ball, I instead hit the ground and hard! Confused I don't do it a lot,I'm not a fan YET.
Does it matter the kind of club I'm using?

Yes it does. And it also depends on your height. I wonder if they have a driving rang ein Kampala where you only practive to hit the ball. That way, you can try out different clubs. Dont give up, you do not have tobbe perfect in order to enjoy the game. You learn as you play, unless you want to become a professional. You will love it when you learn the basics.

Oh! you play tennis too?
I love tennis. Its good exercise. Not like golf. I'd say golf is for lazy and really unhealthy people.
