wakariuki, It is a hobby of mine, to see how the the pronunciational mismatch can cause trouble in the wrong context
in that case then you can find luo extremely interesting, they always have these words with double meanings where one of the meanings is usually so gross and the other so innocent, you pray you dont talk to perverts who misconstrue...

In Japan they use kind of personal stamps called HANKO rather than signature.I remember long before, had forgotten my hanko to a certain public office. So had to tell them have forgotten in japanese.was supposed to be "hanko waseleta" meaning forgot hanko. instead i told them "manko waseleta" .all wondering what??? repeated thrice.manko in Jap means ` p*sy` . Whoops !! in a full public office .again very loud and with confidence

We Mbugua wee, Kumamoto is true, I have came across that name a number of times, even met someone with that name. But A Jap girl told me her name was Kutoba, and I was thinking Kikuyus and waswahili would not want to call her in public.

Saj Actually Kumamoto is a person name and a prefecture name. Kuma means bear ,shade or corner.moto is origin ,beginning etc. ha ha ha ...kutoba ? No.no .no you misunderstood.Maybe she meant kubota.
I had a nasty feeling introducing some of my friends especially in Kenya. But luckly they use two names. If three it can cause a scene.some funny names. Tajiri Akira K*mam*to Atahara Mai
