There is nothing complicated in Kikuyu langauge. Blame the missionaries who chose our orthography. The two vowels [ĩ] and [ũ] exist in English and other langauges and there is no complication at all.

Whne I mean the the vowels, I am talking in terms of phones, not graphemes, and they are used all the time. The international phonetics alphabet uses symbol [o] for 'ũ' and symbol [e] for our 'ĩ'. Like I said, the missionaries as pioneers are to blame for not coming up with a better way of representing these two vowels orthographically.

Can't guarantee not staying after midnight. Learning proper Kikuyu is an arduous task. If we are to go for the kikuyu.com meeting and you shout absobloominglutely, I will lose my honor. In any case, I must ensure that you get it in six months.

FrownerWhere is Colonel Pickering to say,"If this girl will put herself
in your hands for six months...
...for an experiment in teaching, she must
understand thoroughly what she's doing."

If I'm good and do as I'm told, will I get to sleep in a proper bedroom, have lots to eat, money to buy chocolates and rides in taxis?Smiler

Will you take me to your mother to try me out first? You could tell her that it's a phonetics job,you picked up a girl but not a love affair.

I'll have strict instructions as to my behavior.I'll keep to two subjects:the weather and everybody's health.'"Fine day! '" and '"How do you do?'"

Eliza stays with Prof Higgins in the end. Will you let me stay with you,of course after I help you win your bet?

I will take you to mom by George!
Ok, first lets ger Col. Pickering to ensure that we play fair. Maybe Ngunjiri Wagithuri, Waweru or Papa Daad. But I wonder if they will be willing to place the bet on your behalf.
Instructions
Do not greet my mother Niatia?
Do not tell her how beautiful the moon is
You must also learn about Kikuyu plants, vegetables, trees and some basic info about farming.
My mom does not talk about weather, unless it is the topical issue. You begin by telling her about where you come from.
Will you also be ready to accompany herto the river to fetch water? Kikuyu ladies do not carry things on their heads, can you carry a 20 litter water jerrycan on your back?
If you can then it is a good begining
