Now that we are preaching water and drinking wine, well, according to Nyau Ya Githaka, how about asking ourselves if we are willing to do what we say and preserve our culture.

Truth be told, that would be hard.Kuaria, ciiko,na mangi maingi.Any of you folks remember our ancestors dances, proverbs and their words of wisdom?

Those who can, check this out.Can any of you out there dance like this?

http://www.kenyans.org/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=53306&cat=711

This is what they called mwomboko. One of those romantic dances.

I tried teaching my daughters. They laughed at first. You are kidding Mama.Right?Wrong I said.We are dancing. It took a while but they had fun.We were all laughing our heads off.

Mwomboko ti hinya mwomboko ti hinya no makinya meri na kuna.......Ngukuringa ngundi nyukwa ari mugunda na thoguo njohini unjirire mbeti ya thoguo........Njogokerera nanii nguogokerere ndeto ithiragira itheruini.

Nyandarwa ti kuraya na gwitu cumbi notugayane.
Ati Maituguo oiga ni cia waing'a? Onanii ninyinaga cia kigoco but I do not believe ati ni cia waing'a.I call on Jesus name daily to keep waing'a away. Some of the things andu moigaga ndiyuragia kaingi why?

I live by the Bible.Whatever it say"thou shall not or do that responsibly,"I follow. The Bible talks about people making merry. It does not say thou shall not dance or thou shall not drink wine.Jesus Himself made wine for the kirindi.Im not advocating wine but if one wants to drink, all I can say is drink responsibly.Like a glass of wine 3 times a week but more importantly, drink at home or get a designated driver.

About dancing,Its okay to as long as people do not let it take over their lives. If you go to a friends wedding and there is dancing,go ahead.Dance.Sometimes the Kenyans here get together old and young. We eat nyamchom, kasubari, dance and make merry.

I am a born again christian. The thing is,I go by the book. The BIBLE.I do not go overboard. Smiler

Nyina wa B,
It is a good attitude to adopt. I do not miss nyimbo cia kiroho, because that is all my mom encouraged. But I do not blame her. If anything I admire the simplicity of her faith. I just turned out to be different. she draw a very strict boundary. To you glass of wine, she would sing

Inyuiro-ini ria ndibei
Na njohi-ini iria nduru
Kuu nikuo Roho ekuuga
Guitiririo ubiriti...

Nituthikiririe Roho
Uria ekuga twike guo
nake niagatuhe thumbi
Kuria kuri ithe Ngai

Whe she listens to Roho, she is told not to taste a drop. Big Grin
