I totally agree with paka mwitu on this! Its the way we brought up that shaped us to be what we are today. If certain cultures allow marriage betwwen cousins, well and good.

I don't know whether this makes sense in regards to the above but not so long ago that the kikuyus stopped FGM and in those days,it was considered fine and every female had to go through it!!What about today? Its being eroded although some parts are still practising it.

Look at the Luos-wife inheritance.

Those women should not abort.Thats their way of doing things!

Abortions should be permissible only for limited reasons like,
1.Rape,--there are options. One can give that child up for adoption. Many couples would do anything to have a child.
2.Incest,--who are we to judge children born of incest?According to the Bible, the human race would have become extinct if Lot and his daughters had not reproduced.Yes it is wrong but that does not mean killing will make it right.
3.Mother has health problems and the only way to save her life is by carrying an abortion.-Do you seriously believe everything doctors say?I have been there. They told me I was gonna die unless I aborted the fetus.I did not.Today that fetus is a very bright girl.Im sooooo glad I did not listen to the doctors cause if it wasnt for her and God,I would be dead.God used her to safe my life.

In other cases, there should be nothing like abortion be it legal or illegal niwanyita Jane? "Gakiiyoha nikoo koi uria karina"

Good people,

We might never reach an agreement on this matter in our lifetime. There are as many opinions as there are vested interests. The medical fraternity, religious bodies , women themeslves and just about anybody will have their own views on the matter.

I think people need to be educated on the health and other implications to be able to make informed decisions. The rest should be left to their conscience.
