AFRICAN KINGS WERE FOOLISH

They sold our fore fathers into slavery. They sold their strongest men in exchange for , do you know what? ***!!! A BLANKET. You can imagine an african bufoon swathed in the warmth of a new blanket watching his strongest men being shackled like cattle and being driven into servitude forever.

The saddest thing is that this bufoonery still informs the continents leadership even today. Moi 's administration gave our Central bank to a 26 year old Kamlesh Patni after a 2 miliion shilling gift. In deed Pattni bought every leader in our country. Narc almost sold us off thro' Anglo leasing.

In fact this king-slave mentality is still there even today. when Raila packs his Hummer in Kibera slums, His subjects will cheer him with their brutal brutal mouths. Kenyan voters deserve their demons.

That is why we should support every attempts to reform our constitution especially the reforms that grab power from thse Kings. Be it minimal or maximum. every opportunity must not be lost at all.

We should be careful to get out of an experience only the wisdom that is in it and stop there; lest we be like the cat that sits down on a hot stove lid. She will never sit on a hot stove lid again and that is well; but also she will never sit down on a cold one anymore.

Yep. Said something similar before. And obidiant attitude to the "kings" and "queens" of Africa.

Next time you see the s t u p i d so called first lady on the headlines: don't buy the newspaper!
When the so called leader of your country is doing some usual yada yada for the press: don't buy the newspaper!
When the corrupt local politician arrange his rally: don't go there.
And vote for the least corrupt candidate. And try a woman this time. Even women can be useless but it might be chance to something better.

Nini,
I think it is not right to ask people not to read the newspaper. It is the power of information that will enlighten us. How do we know if the newspaper was uncovering the ills of the queen or King. Actually, I think failure to buy the papers will actually work to the politician's advantage. Politicians are sustained by the level of the ignorance of the voters. I would say expose them! expose them! expose them! Let us be informed. Information is power, however, how to use that power is the problem.

Finally, failure to buy the newspapers is punishing the press for a mistake they have not done.

Yes! Kabaka!

I think Ugandans are lucky to have their King. (Not to be confused with The Last King of Scotland).
We also have a King and a Queen in Sweden.
They are mostly symbolic and many people seem to need them. Something to idolize, worship and read gossip about.
And those Kings and Queens can go around and wave their marionette hands at the grand openings and cut a ribbon for a new boat. Good.
I think it is worth the 10 dollars I pay for that so called royal family every year.
And meanwhile the prime ministers etc can do their d a m n job: administrate the country for the best of the inhabitants!

And Yes! Read the news! Let me alter my examples of showing your disapprobation:
Buy another newspaper with no "first lady" nonsens on the cover.
I asked the former chief editor at EAS that time when they where pushing the first and second lady so hard if the Kenyans really want to read about this garbage. Not sure, he said, but it sells!
Bottom line: you can decide the intellectual level of the news by ignoring bad news.

The Kings of nowadays are just ceremonial, quite contrary to a king of long go's. But it all translate s to poor leadership by our African leaders be it a King or an aadministrative post.

There is nothing wrong with having Kings and Queens, as long as they are not corrupt or tyrranical.
