Now, the real protector of Mabira is actually the president and his movement, at least thats what he said in the newspaper the other day, and it is not the ones that say they protect the forest cause those ones need to be protected as well as the people around them need protection from them protectors. The newspapers also need protection, by the way, cause they are infiltrated by insects, that probably run off from the forest cause they felt the protection was failing. So finally there is a lot of protection or maybe no protection at all and I really wonder who will protect the forest it self. Will see...
The not to well protected Mabira forest is found in your neighbour country.

The protection of Mabira forest is in the hands of ugandan citizens themselves. They should resist any attempt of the powerful to destroy forests when we are grappling with global warming.Kenyans stood out against the grabbing of karura forest by the powerful!Maria, where are u!U can lead!u may be a wangare maathai in the making!

Yes Mwangi, Citizens can force a sturbbon regim to change tact. Wangaria Mathaais crusade to save Karura forest was an astounding success. Biwott could not hive of part of the forest because of citizen's pressure. Mabira forest must be protected by the Ugandans, but not by killing Indians.

When this man, originating from India, lost his life, murdered in the street, we all felt very bad.
When conflicts like this turn in to racism, ethinic generalization, sweeping statements etc I feel sick somewhere deep there in the guts.
I wish to see a very open discussion though regarding these dirty issues that pop up when the mob is full of anger. All countries have these ethnic "issues" of different degrees. And I think it is good to discuss them in the open.
Who is guilty? Murderers are guilty of murder yes! But who is guilty for the very strong anger? Arrogance among polticians and some big time biz people. Greed.
I have heard a lot, of bad things, over the years in Kenya. Maybe cause I kind of end up in between the "kenyans" and "asians". Horrible non constructive things.
Hope the Mabira Forest will survive anyway and no more lives will be lost during this process!
The most ****** question popped up during the Mabira mess: "Developement or Environment?" Come on, there is no clash there anymore, it does not have to be anyway!

True, sorry, two more people died during the clashes. One from a stray bullet and the other from a direct bullet, no? However they died, I regret their pain too.

Theer is nothing as strong as people's power. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/africa/6680637.stm At least the government is backing down. Pressure should be sustained to ensure that mabira forest is saved.
Good that Wangari Maathai is also showing interest
