According to Gakaara wa Wanjaus book called Mihiriga ya Aagikuyu, she was an Eethega who are also Ambura and Akiuru. You could take the info with a pinch of salt though coz the book was wrong on Wangari Maathai. It says she is Agaciku, whle she herself says she is an Anjiru.

It's an excellent book. He has all the clans, their characteristics, some mbaris from them and famous people from each clan. Sadly out of circulation but I got my copy in a book store in Karatina.
