Please help me with something that has been on my mind for a long time. Mimi ni Mkristu, church-going, professing Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour. During sad times e.g. when a friend/relative has died or have suffered a misfortune, I don't like hearing the statement "God knows best" or "God will provide". Not like my faith wavers or anything like that, but such statements don't make sense during such times. Have you ever been in a situation when a friend has suffered a loss and you keep off saying that statement - "Mungu atakuliwaza" - or something like that? Does anybody else feel the same way? Would like to know everyone's experiences on how you deal with such issues.

Speaking of my own behalf, i think it is all a matter of faith. I have gone through many things in life, some of which might make one doubt God exists.I have equally, gone through many God things that have made me see the hand and presence of God. I will never doubt his existence not even for a moment. Wambui what you need is strong faith in God. Remember, you never know how worse it would have been.
Trust in GOD, for there is no other way.........

Wambui, i can relate to what you are saying and belive me when you are going thru especially trials/trying times and huddles of life when you are wondering where God is, its not encouraging at all to hear someone tell you God will console you coz at that point you are asking why did he let this happen to me in the first place, but once you have gone thru it all, you more often than not will see that just like He says in romans 8:28, that all things work together for good to those who are called according to his purpose, so if you believe him, you will know he means well always, there are certain blessings that come in disguise and while you are busy cursing you fail to see the blessing. i learnt to fully believe that everything happens for good and though it can be hard fact espcially when you have lost someone you love dearly etc, if you choose to see God's hand, and have faith in the power of his word, you will realize he is true to his word. i for one has seen his hand inmy life and i dont question anymore, i just give thanks in every situation and if its hard i ask for strength to go thru it and the patience... be encouraged.

wambui, i have learnt that God is almighty and every thing he does the bible says is for good to them that berieve in him .whenever i find my self in such a stuition i just thank GOd and tells him you have done it for good though i feel down. just as wakaris has told you.
wa kariuki,Sajini,Wagithuri...I am confused here! What is faith and hope? What is the difference between the two?
yes there is a huge difference: (dictionary definition) hope: the feeling that what is wanted can be had or that events will turn out for the best
faith: confidence or trust in a person or thing: faith in another's ability. 2. belief that is not based on proof: (He had faith that the hypothesis would be substantiated by fact.) 3. belief in God or in the doctrines or teachings of religion
just like Sajini says, faith guarantees but hope is just that, hope... read hebrews 11, it speaks so much about faith

most welcome. what i know about faith is that it beats logic, like Sarah of the bible having a baby at 99, virgin giving birth, Jesus feeding 5,000 people on 2 fish and 5 loaves of bread, etc etc things that everyone using logic would say what? it aint possible but from the bible we learn that it happened.
