Noose tightening on the self declared Kalenjin Warlord
Mr Ruto and four other persons face fraud charges over the alleged sale of a piece of land in Ngong forest to Kenya Pipeline Company Ltd for a total of Sh272 million
Excerpt from The Nation:
Higher Education minister William Ruto technically lost his Cabinet position on Friday after the constitutional court ruled that he would face criminal prosecution over a Sh272 million fraud case..
Mr Ruto and four other persons face fraud charges over the alleged sale of a piece of land in Ngong forest to Kenya Pipeline Company Ltd for a total of Sh272 million. The minister allegedly received Sh96 million at various intervals during the alleged transaction.
Mr Ruto was charged with receiving Sh9.9 million, saying he was in a position to sell the land, belonging to the ministry of Environment and Natural Resources. He is alleged to have been paid another Sh57.8 million and Sh28 million for land in the same forest.
The million dollar question is, will RAO act on this or will he try to hoodwink us again?

He claims there is a propensity to get him out, and that he is being targetted because he is a self made man while others who stole with him have godfathers.

Having learned the ropes from the grandmaster himself, he must be well versed with the cleptocratic heirarchy of the Moi regime. Knowing many big(ger) cats who have stolen much more and still roam freely, it's not surprising he feels victimized.
The Hon MP, and I use that term loosely, should start by telling us who these "godfathers" are. Hopefully this case is the beginning of a new chapter in bringing to book the racketeering syndicate that has held our poor nation hostage for so long.
Is there really a new dispensation? Is there a new order? We still wait with bated breath.

I think it is the game of musical chairs. It is telling that Kibaki appoints Sambili on an interim basis, because he expects the fella to be back. He lacks courage to do the right thing.
I have no tear for Ruto, but as long as the Pattnis, Saitotis, Murungarus, Kenyatta, The mois, Railas and even Kibaki himself also stand on teh dock, don't expect much.

Regardless of the outcome of this case, I don't think Mr. Ruto is ever coming back to the cabinet. At least not until after 2012 for the following reasons;
1. If he's cleared, and that is a big if, he's going to take the short time left to consolidate his RV support and try to stick it to RAO come 2012 which he has already began to do.
2. If he's convicted, well he'll do what convicted people do - go to jail. Plus, Moreno is still on his trail.
The problem with the second senario is that cases take forever to reach a conclusion. He knows this and that's why if you remember he was the one advocating for the Hage option.
3. If he's neither cleared nor convicted before 2012, he will be a major player in the political chess that gives Kenya its 4th president.

One reason that I do not see this Ruto thing going anywhere is the tribalized nature of our politics. Already, some Centarl kenyan MPs have vowed to defent UK irrespective of the veracity of his charges. It is this blind support for tribal chieftains that will prove to be Rutos savior.
So long as Goldenberg and Anglo-Leasing cases remain unresolved, no credible corruption conviction can take place in Kenya without the 'victim' claiming double standards and ethnic witch-hunting.
My question is if Ocampo says that Kibaki and Uhuru should go to the Hague, will Kikuyus support such an idea?

I think many Kikuyus would support Ocampo if he summoned Kibaki, Raila, Uhuru, Ruto etc
.
Muhuthia, would you like to revise this now. I think Kikuyus supported Moreno as long as it fucused on Non-Gema suspects. When the UK and Muthauira's names appeared, ICC became biased. Kikuyu legistlators are an embarrasment to the IDPs. I am not a great fan of Karua, but she deserves accolades for standing up for what is right.

All corrupt leaders need to be punished. Gema community is now playing dumb because uk n muthaura are in the list. All pev perpetrators must face the law, they should even take baba Jimmy n Fidel as a discount. Kenya is not short of better leaders since our women are still giving birth.

Looking at the birthrate figures for Cntl province from the recent census, you might want to take that back. If what you say is to keep happening, we might need to pray that this region gets hit by a wave of virgin conceptions or alternatively import a few akuku dangers from the land of mulembe.
With that, am stepping aside from commenting further on this issue.
