In Kikuyu tradition for one to an eleder he must have meet at least the following;

- akoruo e mugikuyu
- akoruo onete kahiu
- atikirike ni athuri a ugikuyu thutha wa guthuthuria mitugo yake
- Arute Mburi iria cietikiritwo;- ta. Ruracio ona kuguraria, Rika, muhiriga
