Women who have sex shortly after giving birth could put their lives at risk, according to a leading pathologist.
A study of two women in West Yorkshire shows they died because they had sex too soon after giving birth.

Both women were in their 20s and had had several children.

The first, aged 22, died eight days after having her third child.

The second, aged 29, died five days after giving birth to her fourth child.

Both women had had a normal delivery and collapsed while having sex.

The researchers said death was due to air bubbles or embolisms being introduced into the body and travelling up to the heart and brain.

This was because the blood vessels in a woman's pelvic area widened during pregnancy and took around three weeks to readjust after birth.

The researchers said it was more common for women to have air embolisms if they had deep penetrative sex with their knees against their chest.

This was because the uterus would be above the right wall of the heart, increasing air pressure on the heart.

Very uncommon

The researchers stressed that these kinds of deaths were very uncommon.

Middle-aged men with heart problems were much more likely to die during sexual intercourse.

For women, other causes of death by air embolism during or after birth include induced abortion, oral sex and forceps delivery.

Dr Philip Batman, one of the pathologists involved in the study, said this was because all of these introduced air into the woman's bloodstream.

He said doctors used to advise women to refrain from sex after birth for around six weeks - until they had attended an after-birth clinic.

But new, more general guidelines suggested that women should abstain until they felt comfortable.

Dr Batman favoured the former advice and said women should be warned of the small risk factor.

"There are risks to all things and it would be unusual if there weren't, " he said.

The research was published in the Postgraduate Medical Journal.

Lanyes can walk the street one day after delivery if that will put a plate of Ugali on the table.

Saj, 4get putting food on the table.Some women go through a phase of wanting it and nothing will stop them from getting some.The hormones go crazy.And especially for women who breastfeed .Their partners can not even say no cause one way or the other,they will get some.

Wakanyus,they do not have to be raped.They are the one who will rape.

Wa-Thish,When women breastfeed,stimulation of the breast is involved.Many women feel aroused just as they feel aroused when their partners are playing with them.Here is a quote that explains .And yes.It is normal.

The role of oxytocin in breastfeeding, orgasm, and arousal
Possibly because childbirth has historically not been under the control of the medical profession, there are many important experiences of childbirth and postpartum that haven’t made their way into the medical literature.

Many women who breastfeed have the experience of feeling aroused, and even having an orgasm, while breastfeeding. But because this is something researchers haven’t studied, and it isn’t a regular part of the education of mothers-to-be, many women experience this and then feel silent shame or guilt, as if there is something wrong with them. But there is a very clear reason for the experience and women neither need to feel shame or embarrassment about it which is caused mostly by a lack of information.

Oxytocin is a hormone that stimulates ejection of milk from the nipples, and its release is triggered by breast stimulation.

But oxytocin is implicated in many other physiological processes. It is involved in contractions of the uterus (both during childbirth and during orgasm), as well as being associated with the feeling of relaxation and satiation following orgasm.

Interesting piece. But then it appears not all lactating mothers experience the same effect. I wonder why there should be such a high disparity in experiences.I am off to the streets to get more opinions.
